Carlton Strategic Ventures has just hired six distressed debt professionals to its investment team as
part of a plan to acquire $1 billion in high yield commercial and residential distressed mortgage debt.
Carlton will invest its own capital as well as co-invest with a major hedge fund.
The CSV distressed debt group is led by chairman
Howard L. Michaels. The group is also made up of
Michael J. Campbell, partner, and Keith B. Stein, a
former Weil Gotshal attorney and workout specialist
who ran Kimco’s Opportunity Fund in the past. In
addition to 40 professionals in its New York office,
Carlton has seven full-time former bank executives
who trade loans out of Carlton’s West Palm Beach,
FL office.
