Dean J. Shapiro has joined Building and
Land Technology as chief operating officer
and partner, where he will oversee the
leasing and day-to-
day management of
the company’s portfolio of more than two
million sf of class A
office space in Connecticut. Before taking on the new
Shapiro position, Shapiro was
the executive managing director of CB
Richard Ellis’s New York City brokerage
division. He is also a board member of the
Business Council of Fairfield County and
the commercial division of the Real Estate
Board of New York.
CB RICHARD ELLIS
Scott Gamber has been promoted to
vice chairman at CB Richard Ellis. This
gives Gamber executive leadership in the
firm’s New York tristate region. Latham
& Watkins LLP and Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. chose Gamber to represent
them as a global real estate broker. Gamber made nearly 1. 3 million sf of real estate transactions in 2007.

Alan Hoffman has become a partner in
Janover Rubinroit, a CPA firm. With
over 30 years’ experience, Hoffman advises real estate, construction and facilities management companies on
accounting, tax and business consulting.

Kamil A. Homsi has joined Marcus &
Millichap’s Manhattan office as senior
associate. His new position’s priority is
to import foreign money into the US
real estate investment market. Global

Schonbraun McCann Picked Up by FTI
FTI Consulting Inc., a global business advisory firm, has acquired the
Schonbraun McCann Group, a real estate and finance consulting firm,
for approximately $125 million. The transaction will place SMG at the
core of FTI’s real estate practice.
Managing partner Bruce Schonbraun founded SMG in 1973 and now
will become senior managing director and the company’s real estate
group leader as he joins FTI. SMG will bring 170 professionals to FTI.
SMG has offices in New York City, New Jersey and Florida. The recently acquired firm is a trusted advisor to REITs, REOCs, owners, developers, financial institutions, sovereign funds, hedge funds and
pension fund advisors. SMG receives a high percentage of recurring
revenue from its real estate clients.
MDJ Will Provide Project Management
Mike DeJohn created the company MDJ Owners Representatives
LLC as a way to provide project management services for new building, renovations for commercial offices, interior and base building office, retail, residential, industrial and institutional construction
projects. He is the president of the company and brings 25 years of experience in project management, corporate real estate and architecture. Before his current position, DeJohn was a partner at WG
Project Management and a senior project director for Jones Lang
LaSalle’s project and development group.
