MARY ANN TIGHE
CEO, New York Tri-State Region
CB Richard Ellis
Throughout her career, Tighe has been responsible for more than 70 million sf of commercial
real estate transactions. A recent highlight was
representing Ogilvy & Mather in a 565,000-sf
lease at 636 Eleventh Ave. for its worldwide
headquarters. For a previous deal involving Ogilvy’s sister company Grey Advertising, Tighe won her sixth Most Ingenious Deal
of the Year Award from the Real Estate Board of New York. Crain’s
New York Business named her the fourth most powerful businesswoman in New York City, across all industries. Tighe is also a
member of the boards for the Inner-City Scholarship Fund and
Joan’s Legacy, and a member of the chairman’s council at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art. Quote: “The Manhattan real estate
market is in uncharted territory. We face serious questions about
the effects of financial industry turmoil on the leasing market.
Even now, it’s premature to assess fully the impact on office
usage, although we are braced for more space returns at a time
when availability has already been rising—albeit from a relatively
low base. It’s also important to note that while rents have been
softening, they remain near historic highs, and rents never move
as dramatically downward as they do when rising. However, most
tenants will find themselves in a more advantageous negotiating
position than they were just a few months ago.”
